Does this course certify me as a VIN verifier?
No. The course provides operational training but does not independently authorize you to verify VINs. You must already qualify under Florida law (e.g., as a commissioned notary) to perform the service.
Who may legally perform VIN verification in Florida?
Florida notaries (when permitted by the applicable process), law-enforcement officers, licensed motor-vehicle dealers, license inspectors, and other parties specifically permitted by Florida law.
Must I already be a Florida notary?
No, you can take the training to learn the process before you are commissioned. However, you cannot legally perform a VIN verification as a notary until your commission is active.
Which vehicles require verification?
It is commonly required for vehicles previously titled or registered outside Florida. We review these situations, along with statutory exemptions, in the course.
Can I inspect rebuilt or altered vehicles?
No. Suspected tampering, altered identifiers, ownership disputes, and rebuilt vehicles should be referred to the appropriate authority, such as law enforcement or FLHSMV.
Does the course include a government credential?
No. You will receive an L2 Certificate of Completion, which documents your participation in our training. It is not a state license or government certification.
